Grocery List January 18, 2015

I’m taking on the Whole Life Challenge again with an awesome group of friends from my box, hoping to take off the 15-20 pounds that crept on in 2014, and I created a sample grocery shopping check list to help those new to the whole “clean eating” and paleo(ish) lifestyle. Figured I’d post it here too, in case it’s helpful to others. I obviously don’t buy everything on this list every week, but most of the ingredients for my favorite recipes are included on this list.

Weekly Clean Eating Grocery Shopping Check List

Produce (preferably organic):

  • Tomatoes
  • Avocado
  • Berries
  • Grapes
  • Apples
  • Halo mandarin oranges
  • Lemons
  • Bunny-Luv carrot croustilles
  • Mushrooms
  • Zucchini
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Onions
  • Fresh garlic cloves
  • Spaghetti squash
  • Eggplant
  • Bananas
  • Pineapple
  • Greens (arugula, spinach, etc.)
  • Guacamole (check ingredients)

Regular or organic aisle/frozen section (preferably organic):

  • Plantain chips (check oil)*
  • Seltzer
  • Tomato paste
  • Fire roasted tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce (check ingredients)
  • Artichoke hearts*
  • Marzetti olive oil & vinegar
  • Frozen strawberries, no sugar added
  • Frozen blueberries, no sugar added
  • Frozen green beans, no sugar added
  • Frozen spinach, no sugar added
  • Applegate turkey sausage

Organic/gluten free section:

  • Sweet potato chips (check ingredients/oil)
  • Raw sunflower seeds*
  • Raw pecans*
  • Raw walnuts*
  • Raw almonds*
  • Amy’s organic soup (check ingredients)
  • Beef/chicken broth (check ingredients)
  • Coconut aminos
  • Bragg’s apple cider vinegar
  • Arrowroot powder
  • Liquid stevia
  • Coconut oil*
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Almond butter*
  • Almond flour
  • Coconut flour
  • Milled flax seed
  • Chia seed
  • Canned coconut milk
  • Lara bars (check ingredients)
  • Quinoa pasta (note: corn flour used)
  • Mary’s Gone Crackers

Meat:

  • Organic/free range chicken thighs*
  • Organic/free range chicken breasts*
  • Whole organic/free range chicken*
  • Grass fed ground beef*
  • Grass fed flank steak

Dairy:

  • Organic/grass-fed butter (Kerrygold/Kate’s)
  • Almond and/or coconut milk
  • Stonyfield organic plain Greek yogurt
  • Organic cage-free eggs
